Making your own chocolate syrup is far easier than I thought it would be. Once I’d done it a couple of times I didn’t even need to look at the recipe and it takes less than ten minutes to do. It’s inexpensive, you can choose the quality of chocolate you use, you can make the whole thing organic if you want, and it doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup or preservatives. Delicious!
2 cups filtered water
1 cup sugar
1 cup cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
Stir the cocoa and sugar together in a saucepan until they are mixed. Add the water and stir until the cocoa is mixed in. Bring to a rolling boil and keep boiling for four minutes, stirring constantly.
Put squeeze bottle in sink. Pour hot syrup through funnel into bottle. Leave bottle out until it cools, then keep in the refrigerator.
One bottle lasts me many months. Note: this is not a diet recipe!
