Looking for gifts to meet the Buy Local Christmas challenge? Or elegant treats for holiday parties? Here are some ideas: gift boxes of locally smoked salmon, cheese and nuts from Crimson Cove; a six-pack of sasparilla, blackberry, root beer and other sodas from Hummingbird Hill; a pint of seasonal ice cream (try pumpkin!) from Viking Feast.
All these local vendors we have come to know and appreciate through local farmers markets can be found in Poulsbo. Crimson Cove, Viking Feast and Hummingbird Hill all make and sell their wonderful foods at the industrial park at the corner of Bond and Gunderson Roads (for your GPS, the address is 22273 Stottlemeyer Road NE in Poulsbo). The vendors held a mini-fair on Friday October 29 – Crimson Cove’s annual open house, Viking Feast’s grand opening, and a chance for everyone to throw up their tent and hand out samples. CBC Chocolates had candies and Williams Family Salsa offered tastes, both available through the shops at the corner.
Here’s another idea: pair London Maid crumpets with a jar of local jam. The London Maid Facebook page gives pickup dates.
Crimson Cove is open Fridays 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. It’s a good stop to put on your holiday shopping itinerary!
