A magnificent greenhouse

On Sunday Alex and I went to Seattle to catch the Gamelan Pacifica concert (Ted is a member) at the Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park. While we were in the park we toured the free Victorian conservatory in the park.

This is my favorite place to go when winter has really gotten to me. It’s warm, it’s green, and the scent makes me swoon.

I sat on a bench and dreamed about my greenhouse. I bought a small bromeliad, orange with bright green leaves, and carted it home.

Of course I can’t put the bromeliad in my unheated greenhouse, which is still below 40 at night. I did however pick up a couple of primroses and some bulbs which have been held outside, just to have a little color around me while I work on the seed trays. I seeded my first starts, Little Gem lettuce and Chanteney carrots that came in our West Sound Farms Expo packets.

Spring has come to the greenhouse, soon to the garden!
