Dill and sweet pickles
Pickling cucumbers are starting to show up in the farmers markets. Time to break out the pickle recipes! Last night I broke out two tried-and-true recipes I posted here last year. That vinegar-and-sugar smell is a scent of the season – the whole house smells like summer! I decided not to process any of the jars through the water bath, they won’t last that long.
Although the cukes are in, the dill isn’t. All I have is fennel, and all the farmers I hit up last week reported their dill is behind schedule too. I fell back on the industrial system and picked up some dill at Central Market. Hopefully we’ll all have some dill soon!
