Late summer is not the end of farmers market season in Kitsap. Port Orchard, Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Bainbridge Island all have markets continuing into fall 2026, although their closing dates and September hours differ.
This guide was checked on August 25, 2026, against first-party market pages. Use it to choose a market by town and day, then check the organizer’s current vendor update before leaving home. Farm harvests, vendor attendance, weather plans, and benefit details can change from week to week.

What to look for from late August into fall
Washington’s fall harvest does not arrive all at once. Late August and early September can overlap with warm-season produce, while storage crops and cool-weather vegetables become more prominent as the season advances.
Washington State Department of Agriculture harvest resources identify apples and pears as peak products in September through November. State fall-produce guidance also includes grapes, winter squash, pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, leeks, onions, garlic, mushrooms, and fall radishes. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, beans, eggplant, zucchini, and summer squash are more associated with early fall.
That list is a planning aid, not a promise that a particular crop will appear at a particular Kitsap market. Weather, harvest timing, a farm’s location, and a vendor’s weekly schedule all affect the table on market day. Poulsbo explicitly warns that attendance varies and directs shoppers to its newsletter for each Saturday’s lineup. Bremerton likewise publishes weekly market information.
Choose a market by the trip you need
For a weekday produce stop
Port Orchard offers the broadest weekday choice in this group: Wednesday afternoon at South Kitsap Helpline and Saturday morning on the waterfront. The Wednesday season ends September 30, while the Saturday market continues through October 31.
Bremerton is the Thursday option. Its shift to 3:30–6:30 p.m. on September 17 matters if you normally arrive after work. By October, there are only a few Bremerton dates left before the October 8 closing day.
For a Saturday market trip
Port Orchard, Poulsbo, and Bainbridge all operate on Saturdays. Port Orchard opens earliest under its regular schedule at 9 a.m. Bainbridge also opens at 9 a.m. through August 29, but its posted regular schedule returns to 10 a.m. Poulsbo runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Poulsbo has the longest published 2026 season of the four, continuing through December 12. Bainbridge follows through November 21, and Port Orchard’s Saturday season ends October 31.
For a ferry-based visit
Bainbridge is the clearest walk-on option because the market organizer describes Town Square as a short walk from the ferry terminal. Ferry schedules and service alerts remain separate from market operations, so ferry visitors should check transportation timing independently.
For travel elsewhere in Kitsap, use Kitsap Transit’s current trip-planning tools rather than assuming a familiar route still runs at the same time. Saturday service patterns may differ from weekday service.
Using SNAP, WIC, or senior benefits
Start at the market information booth when using an EBT card or when you are unsure which farm accepts a particular benefit. At Poulsbo, shoppers process EBT or Sun Bucks at the information booth and receive tokens; WIC and Senior FMNP are used directly with participating vendors. Bremerton also directs SNAP shoppers to its information booth for EBT tokens and Market Match information.
Do not assume every seller accepts every form of payment. Program budgets, matching amounts, eligible items, and participating vendors can change. Bring the relevant card or benefit materials, then ask the information booth before shopping.
A five-minute check before leaving
- Confirm the date and hours. Pay particular attention to Bremerton’s September time change and Bainbridge’s transition from summer hours.
- Open the current vendor page or newsletter. A seasonal vendor directory does not guarantee attendance that week.
- Check the forecast and organizer updates. Rain alone may not cancel an outdoor market, but wind, heat, smoke, or site conditions can affect operations.
- Plan transportation and parking separately. Allow extra time around waterfronts, parks, downtown streets, and special events.
- Ask before making a benefit transaction. The information booth can explain eligible products and identify participating vendors.
Fall market shopping works best with a flexible list: choose two or three meal ideas, see what farmers actually harvested, and ask how long storage crops should keep. For more Kitsap food planning, explore the Kitsap Cuisine directory, read local food stories, or submit a business for review.
